They certainly don't act or speak as if they had college degrees. They're in control ok but not due to their education.....the only qualifications required to be a GB member is having total blind loyalty to the organization and the mystical belief that the Bible is more important than evidence or logic.

Don't you think that by simply asking this question that the idea of god disintegrates?
Why would any mere human tolerate injustice and the pain of sickness, parasitic organisms, genetic malfunctions, cancer etc.
If humans dearly wanted to remove these things then a 'loving God' surely would have already done so for his people. He can't because he exists only in the human imagination.

Can D.Trump Beat the Afghan Hoodoo this Time, and prove the American Empire is Greater than the British Empire?
by fulltimestudent inpresident trump has decided to wind up the american war against the taliban.
will he fare better than many before him.. the ny times recently published this group of images ranging from the nineteenth century until now, including this group of british officers (photographed in 1878 in afghanistan) many of whom likely stayed on in afghanistan permanently.. .
i'm sure a group of modern day invaders would not look very different.

Trying to govern Afghanistan is like herding cats and failure in both accounts is for the the same reason; they are not units which recognize a central authority.

Chapter 31 New Boy 50 years a Watchtower slave
by new boy inchapter 31. murder suicide and death at the big house.
the people at bethel were killing us spiritually and sometimes they killed us physically too.. many of the old timers were in the infirmary laying there just waiting to die of natural causes.
some had served there for over fifty years.

Bethel otherwise known as the JW headquarters is the actualization of "theocratic" living.
By your description new boy, and there is no reason to doubt it, it is a dystopia; the depressing realization of utopian dreams.

My Mothers Ultimate Rejection
by What Now? ini went into my mother's office to leave her a small note to say that we love and miss her and would love to get together.
i found this on her desk.
this is jehovah's witnesses.

What Now? so sorry to hear of your mother's heartless rejection of you. It is so inhuman, so lacking in the natural feeling for family ties that it has to be the mark of a deranged cult at work.
It's no real help to attempt to put the situation of you and your mother into words but be sure that you have friends here who at the very least do understand how tough it is for you.

The Watchtower organization has been proudly disseminating fake news for the whole one hundred and thirty eight years of its existence.
You cannot trust one word of what they have ever printed or spoken, everything has been either misleading or plain wrong. Surely there must be a prize somewhere for a record like this?

If we could ask the Disciplines today this one question.
by pleaseresearch inimagine if we had an opportunity today to ask any of the faithful disciples this question.. who resurrected jesus?.
what would their response be... if they still remembered what jesus said in john 2:19-22.
19 jesus replied to them: “tear down this temple, and in three days i will raise it up.”+ 20 the jews then said: “this temple was built in 46 years, and will you raise it up in three days?” 21 but he was talking about the temple of his body.+ 22 when, though, he was raised up from the dead, his disciples recalled that he used to say this,+ and they believed the scripture and what jesus had spoken.. .

To discuss Bible doctrine gets you absolutely nowhere. It is impossible to arrive at a comprehensive understanding of it because the Bible is not a coherent set of texts, they were never written with the intention of becoming "The Holy Bible". It is an anthology, a careful selection modified to support a political ideal. Nothing fits properly unless you happen to know what was meant at the time of writing and the contemporary cultural milieu. The Bible is not divine, it was written and compiled for humans by humans.
However, the partisan writer of the text in question at John 2; 21,22 clearly had in mind a universal trope of pagan tales that demigod heroes died for three days and came back to life. (Ulysses did in the Odyssey)
The idea is drawn from the astronomical relevance of the "death of the Sun" December 21st when the point of sunset stops travelling south along the western horizon and "comes back to life" by starting to travel north three and a half days later at sunrise in the east on the 25th December. Three and a half days crops up a lot in the Bible as a signal of special meaning to "those in the know".
Nobody could have possibly remembered Jesus' words verbatim which became part of the the book of John. The words instead are the work of the promoters of the Jesus cult, who were in competition with other Christ cults all striving for market dominance in the first three centuries of the common era.
The readers back in the time they were written would have been led to understand that the cultural motif implied their man Jesus was no ordinary punter. Three days dead and a trip back to life makes you a God like the Sun God and his father. Such is the stuff of myth and mind bending propaganda.

At least you were not burnt at the stake like they used to do....... And I agree Voltaire's Candide makes for a hilarious stage production (English National Opera was fantastic) as is the original book. He mocked the "spiritual advisers" mercilessly.
If only the GB saw how futile their efforts are as the Lord's appointed "spiritual advisers". They demand total obedience but completely mislead the flock and have done so since the Watchtower began. They would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.
Hope you are adjusting to the real world Kairos.

What really should be the role of Women in the congregations?
by Old Navy inthe presumably "biblical" practice of limiting the way women participate in congregational matters of the wtborg cult inc. (as well as certain other sects of christendom) may be a gross mis-interpretation of what paul meant.
i'm inclined to agree completely with this account of what paul really meant.. thoughts anyone?
aren't women more deserving of greater participation and respect?.

I think that Old Navy is hinting that there should be an improved status for women in JW congregations.
The best thing for women is the same as for men; get as far away as possible from crackpot, mind controlling religions with out-dated gender roles and get a sound secular education. At least then you can then base your life on factual things not Bible mumbo jumbo.

How much do you think the internet has hurt JW growth?
by HereIgo inthe internet is what helped bring me and so many others out of this evil organization or at least confirmed our doubts.
i have to say, i have seen quite a few youtube videos recently of ex jw's secretly recording their interactions inside of different congregations, halls, etc and see how empty the halls are!
so many people comment on how the attendance is so low, far more emptier than when i was in 6 years ago, even on a weekday meeting.

I had an elderly but hearty couple call at my door a year or so back. The woman had been a JW since the 1930s, a real trooper.
I explained to them what I had learned about their religion including the UN fiasco. The woman asked where the information came from and I told her the internet.
"The internet!" she scoffed and shook her head and nearly spat her dentures out, she was as cross as a cross thing could possibly be!
Long live internet freedom of information!
